Bangarang Park Playground Redevelopment

Located in close proximity to the river, this design and construct project creates a strong sense of place by drawing inspiration from the colours, textures and character of the River Redgum landscape.

At the centre of the space is a free-standing, all-abilities play system featuring a twin tower and elevated sky walk. The playground encourages exploration and imaginative play through sand and water elements, balance and agility challenges, a spin dish, swings, sculptural features and interactive musical items to offer diverse experiences for children of all ages and abilities.

Several bespoke sculptural elements were designed and fabricated in-house, adding a distinctive identity to the park and reinforcing the river-inspired theme. These custom features contribute to both the visual impact and play value of the space, ensuring it feels authentic and locally grounded.

New plantings of riparian inspired foliage surround the playground, enhancing the sensory experience while reflecting the River Redgum environment. Natural materials, shade and carefully selected vegetation work together to create an inviting and immersive setting for families.

Accessibility has been embedded throughout the design, with inclusive pathways and play opportunities that support participation for all ages and abilities.

The comprehensive project scope extended beyond the playground itself to include stormwater and electrical upgrades, new pathways, BBQ facilities, picnic settings, and landscaping works delivering a complete recreational precinct for the community.

Highly regarded by locals, the park frequently features among the Top 5 Best Playgrounds in the Border & North East, a testament to its thoughtful design, strong sense of place and enduring community appeal.
